AMPECO has consistently demonstrated leadership in climate action through concrete, measurable commitments. Our 2030 net-zero emissions target is our “north star” in terms of our climate actions, which is now officially verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
About the Science-Based Targets initiative
The Science Based Targets initiative is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. Through its comprehensive standards and guidance, SBTi enables organizations to set verifiable greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The initiative’s credibility is reinforced by its partnerships with leading environmental organizations, including the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
AMPECO’s climate journey
Since announcing our net-zero emissions commitment in 2021, AMPECO has taken decisive steps toward our 2030 goal. Setting such an ambitious timeline demonstrates our conviction that immediate climate action is imperative. This urgency is validated by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), whose findings—characterized by the UN as “code red for humanity”—indicate that while limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C remains possible, the window for action is rapidly closing.
AMPECO has done the following in terms of climate actions:
In 2021 we:
- Committed to net-zero emissions by 2030
In 2023 we:
- Completed our first carbon accounting for FY 2022
- Published our first Sustainability Report for FY 2022, which also reported our carbon emissions
- Received a B Corp certification
- Invested in a sophisticated carbon accounting tool to measure GHG emissions as accurately as possible
In 2024 we:
- Completed and carbon accounting for FY 2023
- Set a very-near-term goal to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2025, compared to 2022
- Published our first Climate Transition Plan detailing our plan of action to reach our 2030 target
- Published our second Sustainability Report for FY 2023
- AMPECO has approved near and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets with the SBTi
The most recent step in this journey is the validation of our science-based net-zero target, which was approved by the SBTi using a streamlined target validation route exclusive to SMEs. Through this action, AMPECO commits to reaching net-zero by 2030 and reducing scope 1+2+3 emissions 100% by 2030 from a 2022 base year.
We have observed a growing demand for climate action driven by scientific evidence from many of our stakeholders, including our investors, and the SBTi verification supports such requests directly. As a rapidly expanding company currently supported by venture capital, as highlighted by our recent Series B announcement, addressing the expectations of our investors remains a top priority. This new verification by the SBTi adds to AMPECO’s growing list of sustainability credentials – all guided by our approach to doing business as a source for good.
Implementing our net-zero strategy
Our path to net-zero emissions by 2030 is detailed in the AMPECO Climate Transition Plan, which outlines our comprehensive strategy for carbon footprint reduction. Following SBTi’s scientific framework and industry best practices, this plan serves as our roadmap for achieving measurable emissions reductions across all scopes. We are committed to annual updates of our Climate Transition Plan, ensuring transparency and accountability in our progress toward these ambitious targets.
AMPECO’s EV charging management software and its GHG emissions reduction potential
As a climate tech leader, AMPECO’s impact extends far beyond our operational emissions. Our EV charging infrastructure management platform plays a crucial role in accelerating the global transition to sustainable transportation. By enabling efficient deployment and management of EV charging networks, we help unlock the full potential of electric mobility in reducing transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions. For perspective, according to BloombergNEF, the total investment in energy transition has reached $1.8 trillion in 2023 globally – of them,>$600 billion invested in EVs and charging infrastructure. In many cases, e-mobility is described as synonymous with sustainable mobility in genera,l and this is because e-mobility is considered a key lever in reducing overall GHG emissions from transportation and tackling Climate Change.
Further climate commitments
Beyond SBTi, AMPECO is also engaged with the SME Climate Hub (SMECH) and officially became a committed company in their “Race to Zero” initiative in 2021. The SMECH is a non-profit global initiative that empowers small to medium-sized companies to take climate action and build resilient businesses for the future.
AMPECO is a proud B Corp certified company since 2023. We met their stringent environmental requirements and received a very high total B Corp score of 103.8.
Also, in 2024, AMPECO signed The Climate Pledge, led by Amazon, a commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. It brings the world’s top companies together to accelerate joint action, cross-sector collaboration, and responsible change.
Join us in climate action
We are proud of our achievements, but this is just the beginning of our sustainability journey. AMPECO’s commitment to science-based climate action demonstrates that ambitious goals are both necessary and achievable. We invite our partners, customers, and fellow industry leaders to join us in setting science-based 1.5°C and net-zero targets that will drive meaningful change for our planet.
