Rosi is an experienced professional with over 20 years of experience in various companies and at different career levels in the IT industry. She is a passionate traveler who has spent considerable time living in Barcelona. Rosi is also one of the many cycling enthusiasts at AMPECO, and you’ll often see her riding her bike to the office, as it’s her best friend in the bustling city.
However, more than anything, she enjoys cycling and traveling, accompanied by her beloved family.
What path led you to AMPECO?
My career began as a software engineer working with PHP, and I later transitioned to other technologies such as Java, Python, and more. For the past twelve years, I have been working as a technical manager, and in the last seven years, I have focused on enhancing my skills as a software delivery manager.
I have worked at various companies, including startups, corporations, product companies, and outsourcing firms. I have explored different career paths to find the work culture that suits me best. My career path led me to Barcelona, where I’ve lived and worked for five years. At one moment, I saw the rapid development of the IT industry in Bulgaria. That’s why I decided to return here and pursue my career in my home country.
In 2022, I discovered a new tech startup in Bulgaria called AMPECO that had developed a fascinating product. So, right away, I started following their fast development. When they opened a position for an Engineering Manager in 2023, I immediately sent my application, and here we are a year later.
What’s the thing about your role that ignites your power?
I’ve had various roles in the industry, so I am helpful to my teams. This sense of being useful is one of the main reasons I feel empowered in my current role. What energizes me the most is the ability to help people grow in their field, provide support, and facilitate effective cross-department communication. This approach ultimately leads to improved delivery and ensures our customers’ satisfaction with the final results.
What does your typical workday look like?
A typical workday in the engineering department starts with daily meetings for the teams I am part of. During these meetings, I collect information about each team’s progress, identify any obstacles they face, and address any other issues needing resolution. Following these dailies, additional meetings may occur between the development and product teams. My schedule also includes one-on-one sessions with developers to provide feedback, listen to their ideas, and discuss any challenges they may encounter.
Another thing is the cross-department meetings with the managers of the other sectors of the company. Since January, we have had another engineering manager on board, two new engineering teams, and a few new colleagues in the existing dev teams. However, this is not a surprise because growth here is expected and planned throughout.
What are the go-to skills for working on the engineering team of one of the world’s leading EV charging software companies?
Excellent technical knowledge is important in the engineering department. It’s preferred that a developer has experience working on complex products, as our platform is sophisticated with many features, and more are being added. Acquiring domain knowledge about our product is one of the main challenges for new team members, so being a quick learner and having experience with complex products like ours is a plus.
The world of EV charging is relatively new and developing rapidly, leading to new regulatory requirements and suggestions for our clients’ features. It is essential for the people who want to join AMPECO to embrace these changes with an open mind.
How does your journey at AMPECO contribute to your personal and professional growth?
The nature of the job brings out the best in me. The rapid development of the industry, along with the dedication of everyone at AMPECO, will lead to a significant increase in the number of employees by 2025. As a result, there is always someone from whom to learn so that the challenges quickly turn into great opportunities. The product develops each day, giving us the field to upskill and gain more knowledge daily. Each day is unique and exciting; this is your place if you have a results-oriented mindset.
What’s one thing you do that is important to you?
It is extremely important to me to ensure that everyone on the engineering team feels valued and supported in their professional development. Equally crucial is our focus on creating an innovative and compelling product. In addition, fostering robust collaboration across different departments, such as in our grooming meetings with the product team, is vital. These meetings provide a comprehensive understanding of the business’s expectations, which we then align with technical possibilities to deliver the best client solutions.
What do you like the most about your team and the people here?
What I like the most is the teamwork. I’ve noticed it since day one at AMPECO. Everyone here understands how important it is to strive for excellence. Therefore, people here help each other and push each other to be the best version of themselves. And when you see the result of our work, it shows. The quality speaks for itself.
