In the competitive landscape of homeowners’ associations (HOAs), where residents vote on which company will serve their EV charging needs, having strong brand recognition among EV drivers was essential for securing new contracts and expanding market presence.

Mitigate risks for HOAs

drivee needed to ensure that their solution would not lead to unexpected increases in electricity bills or additional administrative burdens for billing residents. They also prioritized preventing circuit breaker issues when new chargers were installed and guaranteed prompt support for any charger malfunctions, both remotely and on-site.

Offer home charging and public charging in one app

To further enhance customer convenience, drivee integrated home and public charging access within a single app. Although not the primary focus, this feature added significant value by allowing customers to use the same app for charging at home and at public stations, reinforcing drivee’s commitment to providing a seamless and user-friendly experience.

White label solution for brand promotion

drivee leveraged AMPECO’s white-label solution, which includes a backend and EV driver mobile apps, to establish and grow its brand quickly and effectively. This approach enabled a fast time to market and provided the full functionality required to cover their target use case.

Danish HOA market-specific functionalities

To cater to the specific needs of the Danish market and housing associations, AMPECO developed several key functionalities for drivee. These include an electricity tax reimbursement functionality to streamline the process of reclaiming electricity taxes from the authorities. The integration with Nord Pool enables drivee to offer dynamic electricity rates that allow EV drivers to optimize their charging costs with pricing based on the actual hourly market rates. Additionally, AMPECO introduced a post-paid subscription model, allowing end-of-month billing to simplify financial management for housing associations.

Comprehensive partner module

With AMPECO, drivee is able to provide each HOA its own access to the platform, allowing them to set electricity prices independently and manage chargers. This feature empowers HOAs, giving them a sense of ownership over the EV charging infrastructure and confidence to select drivee as their partner. By providing this level of control, drivee effectively addresses the unique needs of each HOA, making its solutions more attractive and easier to adopt – significantly facilitating the sales efforts.

Roaming via Hubject

AMPECO’s integration with Hubject enabled drivee to act as both a CPO and an e-mobility service provider (eMSP). With 520 chargers publicly available through roaming via Hubject, drivee covers all of Denmark, enhancing its service offering to EV drivers.

Electricity meters & Dynamic Load Management (DLM)

drivee can track all chargers at a location with a separate electricity meter, pay the electricity bill, and later bill the respective EV drivers for their sessions, ensuring the HOA is not at risk if someone does not pay. This functionality is enabled through AMPECO’s integration with Shelly electricity meters. drivee relies on hardware DLM devices and software DLM provided by AMPECO to ensure the safety of HOAs and the protection of the grid.

Result

drivee successfully launched and expanded a CPO business focused on HOAs in Denmark, becoming a recognizable brand with a comprehensive private and public charging network. This achievement was driven by their ability to create a complete turnkey solution for HOAs, combining their expertise in electrical installations with the advanced EV charging capabilities of the AMPECO platform.

Currently, their focus is on preparing parking spaces for EV charging by building the necessary infrastructure and awaiting customer requests for charger installation. drivee aims to electrify over 2000 parking spaces by the end of 2025 from their 1.000 that they have today.
