California continues to lead in EV adoption and infrastructure development, and CALeVIP plays a key role in this transformation. The latest update, CALeVIP 2.0, focuses on expanding high-speed DC fast chargers across the state. The CALeVIP 2.0 Golden State Priority Project further incentivizes installations in underserved communities, ensuring equitable access to charging infrastructure.

What is CALeVIP 2.0?

CALeVIP 2.0 supports DC fast charger installations capable of delivering at least 150 kW per connector. This program prioritizes applicants who are ready to begin installation, including those with site verification, permits, and utility designs already in place. It encourages rapid deployment of high-speed chargers across the state. CALeVIP 2.0 offers substantial rebates, covering up to $100,000 per connector or 50% of total project costs. This funding allows businesses, government entities, and others to expand the state’s EV charging network without the heavy upfront costs.

Targeted Funding for Disadvantaged Communities

A central goal of CALeVIP 2.0 is to ensure chargers are deployed equitably, with a focus on Disadvantaged Communities (DAC) and Low-Income Communities (LIC). The Golden State Priority Project (GSPP) ensures that infrastructure is accessible to underserved regions.

Upcoming CALeVIP rebates and incentives

Get ready for a significant funding opportunity launching this summer. The Fast Charge California Project (FCCP-1)  will make at least $55 million in incentives available for high-power DC fast charger installations throughout California. The application window opens July 8 – September 30, 2025

Key benefits include:

  • Up to $100,000 per charging port or 100% of project costs
  • Statewide availability to qualifying sites
  • First-come, first-served funding structure for projects that are ready to build with permits and utility designs in place
  • Funding applies for up to 20 charging ports per applicant

As your technology partner, AMPECO ensures you meet all networking requirements, including the mandatory 6-year networking agreement specified in the implementation manual.

Important program requirements:

  • Combining FCCP-1 funds with other funding sources is not allowed
  • Applications require a 6-year networking agreement with an eligible provider like AMPECO
  • Each charging port must provide a minimum of 150 kW guaranteed output
  • At least one CCS charging port is required for incentive eligibility
