Requirements
Using dynamic electricity rates requires an additional integration with an Electricity Data Provider that supports dynamic pricing, such as Nord Pool
With Optimized dynamic pricing tariffs, you can use pre-defined static or dynamic electricity rates as the base to determine the charging price, while your EV drivers can select an Optimized or Boost mode for their charging session.
Granular approach to the tariff’s configuration
- In addition to the static or dynamic electricity rates for your tariff, you define a Price threshold for the charging session, which is used as a benchmark for determining the price for Optimized and Boost charging modes available to the EV Driver user.
- The electricity cost based on the selected electricity rates is only used in relation to the Price threshold as a way to determine the correct fee for the charging session.
- The price for the Optimized charging mode is determined by the Optimized fee per kWh, and the price for boosted charging mode is determined by the Boosted fee per kWh.
- In addition, you can define one or more fees to be added to the cost of the charging session, such as Connection fee, Duration fee, Duration fee grace period, Minimum price, and Pre-authorize amount.
The Charging modes: Optimized vs. Boost
The Optimized charging mode allows EV drivers to charge at a lower price per kWh, but the power for the charging can be limited during certain times of the day (for example, during peak hours).
The Boost charging mode allows EV drivers to use the full power of the charge point throughout the charging session. This allows them to charge using a lower (optimized) charging price over a longer period of time or to charge at the maximum power of the Charge Point for a higher (boosted) charging price.
