Program Segments & Funding Eligibility
The program targets various property types, including multi-family housing, non-residential properties like employee parking, and publicly accessible non-residential locations such as retail areas, hotels, and government buildings. For multi-family housing, installations must be in open parking areas or garages. However, assigned parking spaces can also be eligible, provided they’re not within private garages accessible to a single residential unit.
Funding Categories
- Affordable Housing Funds Reservation: $1 million is set aside for Affordable Housing charging installations, covering both existing and new construction projects.
- Multi-Unit Dwellings Funds Reservation: $3.5 million is reserved for charging installations at MUD properties, including the $1 million set aside for Affordable Housing.
- Public Agency Funds Reservation: $1.5 million is allocated for charging installations at public agency properties.
Combining Incentives
Installations can potentially qualify for additional funding programs, but Peninsula Clean Energy Incentives may be adjusted to prevent exceeding caps set in the incentive table.
Eligible Project Costs
Incentives are capped as a percentage of project costs, which include utility service upgrades, design and engineering services, EVSE, installation costs, project signage, ADA upgrades due to charging projects, load management equipment, and necessary adder hardware.
Funds Reservation Period
The Funds Reservation Period commences upon approval of an incentives application and requires submission of a preliminary site plan within 60 days. There are various deadlines depending on the property type, but Peninsula Clean Energy reserves the right to extend these periods.
Required Installation Verification Documents
Applicants must submit specific documents, including invoices, permits, photos, network agreements (for Level 2 installations), operation and maintenance contracts or warranties, and electrical inspection records.
