The OCPP Plugfest is a one-of-a-kind annual event for EV charging software providers and hardware manufacturers to test their OCPP 1.6 and 2.0.1 integrations. This event is an excellent opportunity for EV charging companies to receive priceless feedback on their progress in implementing the OCPP. It’s also the best platform to address any questions and obstacles concerning the protocol directly with the source.

This year’s OCPP Plugfest, part of the Global EV Charging Test, will take place at the test laboratory of ElaadNL – the Dutch company that set the beginnings of the OCPP. Remote online testing is available for those who cannot attend in person, and OCA-member attendees are exempt from participation fees.

In addition to testing, which is at the heart of the Plugfest, the event will also host a symposium on V2X. Although this technology is still in its early stages within electric mobility, the expectation is that bidirectional energy sharing between EVs, buildings, and grids will revolutionize the mobility, energy, and sustainability industries.

The event will also feature demonstrations, workshops, and presentations on EMS and routing, global OCPP regulations, cyber security, the OCPP2.0.1 Certification program, OCPP1.6 vs. 2.0.1, and more.

As an OCA (Open Charge Alliance) member and OCPP-certified CPMS provider, AMPECO will attend the Plugfest for another consecutive year. Plugfest participants will learn more about our complex EV charging stack and have the opportunity to test how their charging stations communicate with our platform through the OCPP.

The Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) has become a notable driver of growth for the EV charging industry. It provides the flexibility and interoperability needed to integrate the many solutions available in the EV charging market. This clears the path for the mass adoption of electric mobility by leveling the playing field and enabling stakeholders to choose and combine the most suitable EV charging software and hardware configurations for their business models.

As for the other big event topic – V2X, this one has been the talk of the town within the EV charging circles. The Netherlands, the host country of Plugfest, is a leading market in EV charging and is already experimenting with V2X projects. During the symposium, we will learn how far V2X has come, what remains to be done, and how to approach the necessary collaboration between all stakeholders in turning V2X into a mainstream reality.
