As the world races toward a more sustainable future, Indiana is stepping into the spotlight with a range of electric vehicle (EV) charging incentives designed to power progress and redefine transportation norms. The state is harnessing innovation to drive change, making EV adoption not only feasible but financially attractive for businesses and organizations of all sizes.

Indiana’s NEVI Formula Program Funding: Charging the Crossroads

Charging the Crossroads is the Indiana Department of Transportation’s comprehensive plan to invest nearly $100 million in building an EV charging network strategically located along Indiana’s interstates and highways. The initiative is part of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, contributing to a nationwide goal of establishing a network of at least 500,000 reliable chargers to support the increasing adoption of electric vehicles. The project includes a draft Justice40 Implementation Plan, which aims to ensure that at least 40 percent of the program’s benefits flow to disadvantaged communities. Public feedback is being collected on the draft plan until August 28, 2024. The initial installation of EV fast charging stations at 39 selected sites along Indiana’s alternative fuel corridors is anticipated to begin in 2025. For more information, including an interactive map of awarded sites and resources for partnering on EV infrastructure projects, visit the Charging the Crossroads website.

Indiana EV charging utility rebates

Indiana offers various utility rebates and incentives to promote the installation of EV charging infrastructure. Through partnerships with utilities like Duke Energy Indiana, Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), and Indiana Michigan Power Co., residents and businesses can access funding and rebates for EV charger installations. Duke Energy provides incentives for government, commercial, and residential sectors, including EV Off Peak Credits and Charger Solution programs. NIPSCO operates public EV DCFC stations and offers funding for government and public use. Indiana Michigan Power Co. supports transit authority and school bus electrification, commercial workplace charging, and residential off-peak charge rate incentives. These initiatives aim to enhance EV adoption, improve charging accessibility, and support the state’s sustainable transportation goals. Duke Energy Indiana’s incentive programs

Businesses across Indiana are in for a game-changing opportunity with Duke Energy Indiana’s Charger Solution Program. Designed exclusively for business customers, this program offers an ingenious solution for integrating EV chargers into their operations. The premise is simple yet impactful: businesses can rent Level 2 or DC Fast EV chargers for their establishments. Instead of dealing with the complexities of upfront costs and maintenance, businesses pay a convenient flat rate each month. This all-inclusive package covers the charger itself, as well as any necessary maintenance or warranty items.

The Commercial Charger Rebate program takes the initiative further by offering rebates to qualifying entities such as businesses, cities, schools, and apartment complexes. This innovative program targets the installation of EV chargers specifically for fleets, school buses, and transit buses.

Seize the charge: the time is now

As the global spotlight shifts toward sustainability and environmental consciousness, Indiana is at the forefront of the movement with its innovative EV charging incentives. Through Duke Energy Indiana’s programs, the state empowers businesses and organizations to embrace electric mobility, laying the foundation for a cleaner, greener future.

Whether you’re a business owner, a city planner, or an advocate for change, the time to seize the charge is now. Indiana’s EV incentives are not just about powering vehicles; they’re about powering change and moving the state toward a future that’s driven by innovation, sustainability, and a shared commitment to making a positive impact on our planet.
